Improvements works at Bradwell Dingle are expected to start in the new year

More than £400,000 of improvements have been approved for a park in Newcastle-under-Lyme, including the installation of a new pump track and outdoor gym equipment.

The new track will replace an old skate park at Bradwell Dingle where a larger play area is also due alongside a community garden.

The borough council agreed to invest £412,000 to transform the park following consultation with residents and said work was expected to start in the new year.

The authority said the work also included the removal of restrictive gates to make the park more accessible for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs.

Council cabinet member for sustainable environment David Hutchison said it had been "quite clear" in the consultation feedback that there was a need for better play facilities, improved access and more community spaces.

"We're grateful to the Friends of Bradwell Dingle for their input and look forward to seeing the improvements take shape," he said.

The improvements are being funded through a Section 106 agreement related to the nearby Knype Way housing development.
