Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has announced it will be hosting a royal celebration to honour the legacy of its founder.

This year marks what would have been Gerald Durrell's 100th birthday, with the charity describing him as a man whose passion and vision transformed the way the world thinks about wildlife conservation.

It will be hosting its annual Durrell Lecture, Wild Tales with patron Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, set to speak at the event on 4 November.

The year 2025 also concludes the Rewild Our World strategy which was launched by The Princess Royal back in 2017.

Commenting on the event, Durrell CEO, Rebecca Brewer said: "Our 2025 Durrell Lecture is set to be a truly inspirational evening.

"We are delighted to welcome our patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, to speak at this momentous event.

"We hope our members and supporters will join us for this wonderful event as we honour a century of Gerry and celebrate the extraordinary conservation impact of the international charity he founded."
