A lifeboat crew was called out to an early morning rescue mission after a vessel was reported to be drifting in the sea.

The Jersey Lifeboat Association said it received a call-out at 00:25 BST on Friday after a sailing boat was stuck in the water 8nm (14.8km) west of Corbiere.

It said the vessel was "drifting in the darkness" after it had reported no wind in its sails, empty fuel tanks and battery power fading fast.

The crew was able to locate and tow the boat back to safety in St Helier by 04:30 BST.
