A man has denied four charges following a 36-hour stand-off in Sheffield earlier this week which caused widespread disruption in the city.
At Sheffield Magistrates' Court, Yaqub Younis, 47, of Broad Street, pleaded not guilty to affray, bomb hoax - communicating false information, intentionally/recklessly causing a public nuisance and criminal damage.
On Monday, about 100 residents at Gateway apartments on Broad Street were evacuated to the Ponds Forge sports centre for the night.
Mr Younis is next due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 14 March to enter his pleas and for a trial to be arranged, and a further charge of failing to provide a sample will also be dealt with at that appearance.
During the incident, several roads including Sheffield Parkway were closed and a large police cordon was in place while armed police and negotiators attended.
