A driver has been “encouraged to do the right thing” after a woman suffered a broken ankle in a hit-and-run crash.

The woman was hit by a black vehicle while crossing the road close to the Newcastle Arms pub in Nuthall Road, Nottingham, at 06:11 BST on Monday.

The driver “dragged” the woman out of the road but then drove away without exchanging details, according to Nottinghamshire Police.

Sgt Natham Phipps said: “It’s important we trace the driver involved in this incident and we’d encourage them to do the right thing and come forward.”

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision and have appealed for anyone who have captured footage of the incident to come forward.
