A woman has been arrested and a weapon recovered after the police helicopter and armed officers were called to a property on a residential street.

Hertfordshire Police were contacted about concern for the welfare of a woman in Bournehall Road, Bushey, just before 12:30 BST on Saturday.

Officers found a weapon inside, believed to be an air rifle, but no injuries were reported.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence.

Local road closures were put in place while the incident unfolded as first reported in the Watford Observer, external.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "We thank residents for their patience whilst we responded to the situation."
