Teen saved mum's life after medication mix-up

A teenager carer who saved his mother’s life is set to be honoured by Princess Anne at a special awards ceremony.
Dylan, who is a cadet at St John Ambulance from Westbury, Wiltshire, was in his bedroom in August, when his mother Trudi collapsed downstairs after a medication mix-up.
The 16-year-old, whose mum has several autoimmune conditions, found her unconscious, face down on the floor before he called 999 and began CPR.
"I can't explain how scared I was and how stressful it was knowing that I might not ever be able to see or speak to my mum again," Dylan said.
"It was truly the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced, and without St John I would have no clue what I was doing," he added.
Ambulance crews told Trudi that Dylan, who was 15 at the time, had saved her life when he administrated CPR.
Dylan, who is a registered carer for his mother, had only started his training with St John's Ambulance in April, just four months before the incident.
"I believe without St John, my mum wouldn't be here anymore.
"They gave me the confidence to act in the face of danger," he added.
'Crying like mad'
Trudi said she had burst into tears and was "crying like mad" once she realised what her son had done.
"I've always been a single parent with him, which is why our relationship is so close," she said.
Dylan will be honoured later along with other young lifesavers at the St John Ambulance's annual Young Achievers awards, which will be attended by Princess Anne.
