Six bids to run city golf course, council says

Several firms have submitted bids to take over the running of a council-owned golf course in Derby.
Last year Derby City Council said the current operator of Sinfin Golf Course - Sheffield City Trust - had expressed an intention to surrender its lease by August after running it for nine years.
New council papers ahead of a cabinet meeting on 10 April state six bids have been made from organisations wanting to invest and take on management of the 18-hole course.
A preferred bidder is due to be identified by the council by the end of April.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) says it is proposed the authority will grant a long lease of at least 25 years to any new operator to give them sufficient time to facilitate investment in the golf course over the short, medium, and long-term.
At the cabinet meeting leading Labour councillors will be asked to approve to delegate council chiefs to negotiate and enter into a new lease once a preferred bidder is found.
