A broken down horsebox caused long delays for those heading to day one of the Royal Norfolk Show.

Norfolk Police said it was called to the A47, between the Thickthorn Interchange and Bawburgh, just before 07:00 BST.

Horses had to be removed from the horsebox before the vehicle was recovered.

The westbound carriageway was closed, causing a six-mile queue.

National Highways posted on X, external more than three hours later to say the road had fully reopened.

The Royal Norfolk Show, which is held at the Norfolk Showground in Costessey, near Norwich, claims to be the largest two-day agricultural show in the country, external.

Gates opened at 07:00.
