A young girl suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a motorbike.

The child, who is about 10 years old, was on foot when she was hurt in the crash on Coleshill Road in Atherstone, Warwickshire, shortly after 17:00 BST on Tuesday, police said.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

"She was assessed and had sustained potentially life-threatening injuries," a spokesperson said.

Warwickshire Police said the youngster remained in hospital on Wednesday and their investigations were ongoing.
