Woman, 40s, dies after motorway collision

A woman in her 40s has died following a "serious collision" which has left part of a motorway closed.
Police officers were called to junction 8 at Stansted Airport of the M11 southbound shortly before 06:00 BST, following reports of a single-vehicle collision.
National Highways said, external, in a post on X, external, that the road remains closed southbound between junction 10 at Royston and junction 8 at Stansted Airport.
Essex Police has arrested a 42-year-old on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
The woman's next of kin have been informed.
Essex Police has thanked motorists for their "patience" while the southbound of the carriageway remains closed for vehicle recovery.
The northbound carriageway has reopened.
The serious collision investigation will continue to look into the circumstances of the incident.
