Police are investigating two reports of assault after a council meeting where a councillor said she was punched and had to go to hospital.

The complaints followed the meeting at Evesham Town Hall on Monday.

Councillor Emma Nishigaki said she was attacked as she left the meeting, where she had been involved in a row.

Evesham Town Council has denied Ms Nishigaki was attacked and said it had not received any testimonies of an attack despite 20 potential witnesses.

West Mercia Police said: "We have received two separate reports of assaults happening at Evesham Town Hall on Monday evening."

In an update issued on Friday, a police spokesperson confirmed the investigation was still active.
