RAF fighter jet 'damaged' after bird strike

An RAF fighter jet has been left "damaged" after it came into contact with a bird and had to return to its base in a county.

The F35 aircraft was flying over north Wales when it suffered a bird strike before the pilot decided to return to RAF Marham, Norfolk, at about 13:26 GMT on Monday.

The collision reportedly resulted in damage to the front of the jet, but an RAF spokesperson said it was likely "negligible" due to the distance it went on to travel.

They added: "An RAF F35 suffered a bird strike and as a precaution returned to base where it landed safely. The pilot was fine."
