Entire street against plans for broadband poles

An entire street is opposing plans for broadband poles to be installed outside their homes.
Residents living on Scholars Drive in Hull have signed a petition against MS3 Networks' decision to roll out to their area.
Charlotte Scott, who lives on the street with her husband and two children, said the residents are "all in opposition against this", as they currently have "no overhead infrastructure, no cabling or telegraph poles and want to keep it that way".
MS3 Networks said: "Where we can share existing infrastructure whilst deploying our fibre network we do."
The broadband firm has not given an exact date as to when they will start the work, but residents said the poles are not wanted and will refuse to use the infrastructure.
A group of residents met last week with the company and said despite their strong objections, they were told MS3 will still be going ahead with their plans.
Mrs Scott said: “We have said to MS3 not only do we not want them but if they do put the poles in the ground we don’t want to use them either.
"They have said they are going to keep going regardless.
"They have told us that they do share infrastructure in other parts of the country but they’re not willing to do that in Hull.”
MS3 Networks said it understood not every resident was supportive of new telegraph poles and that it had met with people in scholars Drive to understand their concerns.
Bjorn Ombler, who has lived on the estate for nine years and has also signed the petition, described the poles as "an eyesore".
He said: "One of the selling points to me moving down here was that it is a nice, quiet development and there are no telegraph poles to be seen.
"None of the residents on this estate are going to take advantage and use MS3.”
Local councillor Peter North said the residents have "unanimously opposed MS3’s proposals to install telegraph poles on their street".
He added: "We will continue to support the residents who have done an incredible job of bringing the community together to resist this unwanted development.
"We hope that MS3 will reconsider their plans and install infrastructure that is more considerate to residents' wishes.”
