Work to repair a collapsed culvert under a railway track will keep a section of line closed until the end of Tuesday.

Network Rail said it would be unsafe to run trains between Church Stretton and Craven Arms in Shropshire until it is complete.

Rail services between Shrewsbury and Hereford and between Shrewsbury and Llandrindod have been replaced by buses in the meantime.

Trains on the Heart of Wales line will run between Llandrindod and Swansea only.

Rachel Heath, their operations director for the region, said it was unclear what had caused the damage.

She also said it was a big job and the repairs would involve lifting up the track to support the ground underneath.

Rail users were warned the bus services could add extra time to their journeys.

Tickets could be used at no extra cost on a number of alternative routes, Network Rail's spokesperson said.
