Three convicted over man's fatal stabbing

Two men have admitted murder and another has been found guilty of manslaughter after a fatal stabbing in Stoke-on-Trent.

Thapelo Jali, 21, from Stafford, died in an alleyway off Buccleuch Road, Normacot, at about 12:50 BST on 22 July 2024.

Ezaan Hussain and Tayyab Hussain, both of Chaplin Road, Stoke-on-Trent, initially denied murder but changed their pleas to guilty on 9 and 7 July respectively, during a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Tuheed Hussain, also of Chaplin Road, was found guilty of manslaughter by the jury on Monday. All three will be sentenced at the same court on Thursday.

Four other men who were accused of Mr Jali's murder were acquitted:

  • Zubair Hussain, of Chaplin Road, Stoke-on-Trent

  • Hakim Mohammed, of Buccleuch Road, Stoke-on-Trent

  • Israar Tariq, of Chaplin Road, Stoke-on-Trent

  • Lukman Khan, of Hamilton Road, Stoke-on-Trent
