New principal appointed at city college

Louise Fall, currently deputy principal, will become chief executive and principal on 1 August

The new principal of City of Wolverhampton College has said she is "absolutely delighted" to be appointed to the role.

Louise Fall, currently deputy principal, starts on 1 August and will also become chief executive.

She replaces Mal Cowgill who is stepping down after six years in the role, the college said.

Ms Fall joined the college as quality improvement director in 2014 and will oversee the opening of a new £8.1m Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre in September and a new campus in the city in 2025.

Earlier this year, the college was released from the longest-lasting financial Notice To Improve (NTI) in the sector.

Ms Fall, who has 20 years' experience in the further education sector, said she was committed to the college.

“I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed principal of the college," she said.

"I am committed to ensuring the college continues to serve the needs of local people and local employers and that we continue to develop courses and apprenticeships to meet local demand".

She said there were "exciting times ahead" and "looked forward to leading the college and its dedicated staff, students and apprentices through the next stage of its development".

Mike Hastings, chair of the board of governors at the college, said they were pleased with the appointment as Ms Fall had been a key member of the leadership team.
