A 15-year-old schoolboy has died after becoming unwell on a bus in Fife.

Emergency services were called to the A92 Halbeath roundabout in Dunfermline at about 13:45 on Monday but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said his death was being treated as unexplained and officers were carrying out inquiries.

Beath High School headteacher Stephen Ross said the school community was "devastated".

Three red lanes lead up to the A92 Halbeath roundabout. The roundabout is controlled by traffic lights and the centre of the roundabout is full of trees and bushes. There are cars going up to the roundabout and also on the roundabout.Image source, Google

A letter sent to parents and carers said the pupil had been travelling to Fife College in Dunfermline for a course.

"Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones at this sensitive and difficult time," said Mr Ross.

"We are looking after our young people and arranging support across the school community providing space, time and help to those who need it."
