Missing child found after 24-hour search

A missing child who sparked a widespread search by police and the local community has been found.

Guernsey Police had appealed to islanders to help them locate the child who had last been seen at about 11:00 BST on Tuesday in the area of the Castel Church.

The force's social media post about the disappearance received hundreds of responses from those wanting to help.

Police said the child was found safe and well on Wednesday, about 24 hours after last being seen.

Many commenting online said they had been searching by walking and driving around various areas of the island.

A police spokesperson had previously reassure the public that officers had been conducting targeted searches and had worked to confirm several unconfirmed sightings as quickly as possible.
