A swimming pool in Jersey will change ownership next year to help "deliver better value for taxpayers".

The Government of Jersey will be adding the AquaSplash facility, in St Helier, to Active, a network of swimming pools it runs across the island.

It is hoped the move will give the authority greater control in dealing with rising costs across the island and enable it to streamline services.

Current owners Serco Jersey Limited said it was "disappointed" to be leaving the waterpark and leisure facility after 25 years but that it was "proud of its achievements" during that time.

"I am pleased to welcome AquaSplash into the family of our Government of Jersey Sport facilities from next October," said constable Andy Jehan, minister for infrastructure.

"This change will deliver better value for taxpayers and ensure that AquaSplash can continue to operate as normal and serve the public.

"We know this news may be worrying for AquaSplash staff and we want to reassure them that we are committed to supporting them where we can."

He added staff would be considered for opportunities to work with the new Government of Jersey team.

A spokesperson for Serco said: "We are disappointed to be leaving AquaSplash after almost 25 successful years in Jersey.

"But we fully understand the need for the Government of Jersey to deliver operational efficiencies in its leisure facilities.

"We are very proud of our achievements over this time... and will continue to work in partnership with the government for a smooth transition in 2026."
