A fortnight of daytime road closures linking the west of the Isle of Man to the south has begun to allow for the continuation of a road stud replacement programme.

The A24 will be shut between the Braaid Crossroads in St Marks to Springfield Terrace in Foxdale between 09:30 and 15:30 BST weekdays until 23 May.

The works, which will cover a 4.6 km (2.8m) stretch of road, are part of a wider project being carried out across the island on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure.

Emergency access to the closed sections of Foxdale Road and East Foxdale Road will be maintained while centre line reflective road studs are installed.

A marked diversion for traffic using the route is in place through from Lower Foxdale, to the A1 Douglas to Peel road, and towards the crossroads in Braaid.

The works follow similar replacement schemes that have taken place across the island.

Those include the continuation of works on A5 Castletown Road, which is the main route from the south to Douglas, until 16 May.
