Girl badly hurt in hit-and-run crash

A teenage girl has suffered serious leg injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Birmingham.
She was struck on Oldknow Road in Small Heath just after 15:00 BST on Wednesday, West Midlands Police said.
Officers said the car was believed to have hit railings and a pedestrian before the motorist drove away.
The 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which the force described as serious, while officers remained at the scene to carry out their investigations.
