The New Haven pub in Cheylesmore has been empty for four years

A pub which has been empty for four years could be bulldozed to make way for new apartments.

The New Haven on Dillotford Avenue, Cheylesmore, Coventry was left empty when it closed in 2020, planning documents said.

The venue would be replaced with 31 one-bedroom flats across an L-shaped building which would be three storeys high at its tallest point, if plans were approved by the city council.

Apartments would be aimed at young people moving into their first home and also older people who were downsizing, the plans said.

Most of the flats would be “market housing” but eight would be available at affordable rents and it would have 38 car parking and 32 cycle spaces.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
