Nottingham's hospital trust says a critical incident affecting its blood testing service has ended.

On Tuesday, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust said the IT failure meant it could not process tests in a "timely fashion".

The problem was affecting blood tests ordered by the trust's hospitals - the Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital - and GPs.

The trust said it was returning to "business as usual" with GPs able to make blood test referrals from Wednesday afternoon.

During the IT failure, the trust said it was working to prioritise the "most urgent blood tests, including cancer and pre-op services".

In a statement on Wednesday, it thanked colleagues, patients and its partner agencies for their support during the incident.
