Cannabis worth £490,000 discovered at empty property

A 36-year-old man has been arrested after cannabis with an estimated street value of more than £490,000 was recovered from an empty property in Buckie.

Police executed a warrant at the property on East Church Street at about 18:45 on Thursday.

An extensive cannabis cultivation was discovered inside.

The arrested man was charged with drug offences and was due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court.

Det Sgt Steven Young said: “This is a significant recovery and is an example of our efforts to disrupt the trade in illegal drugs in Scotland.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy."
