A teenager has been arrested after a five-year-old boy was struck and seriously injured by an electric dirt bike, police have said.
The rider did not stop after the collision, which happened at 15:20 BST on Tuesday outside Mill View School in Upton, Chester, while the boy was walking with his dad.
After presenting himself at Blacon Police Station, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop following a collision, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
Cheshire Police said the boy, from Blacon, remained in custody.
Det Insp Ross Hamilton said: "As part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any video footage that may aid the investigation.
The injured boy was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital.
