Driver arrested after pedestrian dies in crash

A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was killed in a crash.

The man in his 60s was struck by a vehicle on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot near to the Lidl superstore shortly before 06:40 GMT.

Thames Valley Police said he died at the scene. The force said his next of kin had been made aware and were being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

A 41-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains in police custody.

A stretch of the road between Mill Lane and Hogarth Avenue remains closed.

Thames Valley Police has urged witnesses and any drivers with dashcam footage to get in touch.
