An "erratic and dangerous" driver has been jailed for three-and-a-half years after he was found with about £1,000 of class A drugs hidden in his underwear.

Ahmed Hassan, 24, was spotted on CCTV driving dangerously in the centre of Peterborough last year.

Police said they arrested Hassan, of Dogsthorpe Road, Peterborough, on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent and driving without a licence or insurance.

He was found with 92 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine worth almost £1,000 and pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.

Police were alerted to Hassan's driving on 16 November last year.

He was found parked in a taxi rank at Broadway but denied owning the vehicle or driving it.

Following his arrest, police said his mobile phone showed evidence of drug dealing.

Hassan was sentenced at Huntingdon Law Courts, had eight points added to his licence, and was banned from driving for one year and nine months for driving without a licence or insurance.

Det Con Joe Passby said: “We work very closely with CCTV operators across the county, who are an invaluable resource – by them alerting us to Hassan’s erratic and dangerous driving, we have put a drug dealer behind bars and taken class A drugs off the streets.”
