A group of Jewish schoolchildren has been assaulted in north-west London in what the British Transport Police (BTP) is investigating as a hate crime.

BTP said officers were called to Belsize Park Tube station shortly after 16:00 BST on Monday, following a report a group of Jewish schoolchildren had been assaulted.

The force said detectives were appealing for witnesses.

"The incident is being investigated as a hate crime," BTP said. "Inquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders, who are believed to be a group of children from another school."
