An investigation has been launched after three women reported serious sexual assaults in a short space of time.

Two women were approached from behind in Hyde Park, Leeds, shortly before 02:00 BST on Thursday, and assaulted by a man wearing a face mask, West Yorkshire Police said.

While officers attended the scene, a third woman came forward to report she also had been assaulted about 20 minutes earlier.

Acting Det Insp Nicola Morton-Wiltshire, of Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, said: "We are working hard to progress the investigation, and I would urge anyone who witnessed these incidents or has information that may assist our inquiries to please come forward."

Police said the suspect, who was wearing jeans and a grey or black puffer coat with the hood up, ran off when the two women shouted at him.

He is described as aged in his 30s or 40s, of slim build and speaking with an English accent.

He was wearing a face covering up to his eyes, which may have been a Covid-type face mask.
