'Serious assault' may disrupt roads for 'hours'

A "serious assault" has taken place which could cause "disruption" to nearby roads for "hours".
Essex Police were called to reports of an incident in Meadgate Avenue, Chelmsford at 12:30 BST.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We appreciate this may be distressing for those living in the area, however there will be an increased police presence in the area today and we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public."
They added: "Thank you for your patience while we carry out our work – there may be disruption to roads surrounding the scene for the coming hours."
