A man has been arrested after £2,000 worth of power cable was stolen from a mobile breast screening unit in a Scunthorpe car park.

The incident was reported to have happened in the Lakeside Retail Park last Friday.

Humberside Police said officers were alerted by a member of staff who reported two suspects approaching the unit and stealing the cable, before leaving the scene.

Following a review of CCTV footage, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft, along with six counts of shop theft, police said.

He remains in custody for questioning, a spokesperson added.

Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to contact police on the non-emergency 101 number.
