A man who prides himself on trying to outpace Aldi checkout staff is planning to take on his nemesis at the tills.

Leroy Lupton, from Lancaster, films himself trying to pack his shopping faster than the supermarket's cashiers - famed for their speed - can scan it.

Mr Lupton says he is now using the Tiktok following he has attracted to get tips ahead of taking on the the man he calls The Boss.

"I've received lots of feedback and am aware of my rookie mistakes," the 33-year-old said.

Mr Lupton started shopping at Aldi every week after the company opened its Aldcliffe Road store, near his home in Lancaster, in 2020.

He said he had noticed how "insanely speedy" the cashiers were at scanning his items and last month decided to film himself packing his shopping bags.

He uploaded the video to his Instagram story and soon received a flurry of messages about his performance.

The music teacher and producer has posted six videos so far, all in the style of the retro video game Street Fighter.

They racked up almost three million views, inspiring him to set up his TikTok channel.

He said one of his main rules was that his last items had to be in the bag before the cashier asked if he would like a receipt.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire one of the most important pieces of advice has been given was about toilet rolls.

"People say never bag the toilet rolls; that is an underarm job," he said.

He said The Boss was "incredibly nice, which makes it more intimidating".

"Some [cashiers] are just focused on the speed, but he'll hold a conversation with you while going at lightning speed with the items," he said.
