Long-running bridge repairs set to end in October

Work to repair a busy East Yorkshire motorway bridge is now expected to be completed by late October, more than two and a half years after it started, highways officials have said.
Repairs to the M62 Ouse Bridge had been scheduled to be finished by August.
However, National Highways said the delays were due to the need for additional work and challenges posed by poor summer weather.
Repairs started on the bridge near Goole in March 2022 after eight damaged joints across both carriageways were found to need replacing.
The completion date for the complex works had already been extended several times, with motorists having to observe a 30mph speed limit during the entire project.
A spokesperson for the agency said: "Once completed, all lanes will be reopened, and the national speed limit will be reinstated."
This would be followed by some overnight lane closures to allow for work to the underneath of the structure, they added.
Meanwhile, East Riding of Yorkshire Council said temporary lane closures would be put in place at nearby Boothferry Bridge, on the A614 between Goole and Howden, from 30 September to allow the replacement of CCTV cameras.
The work is expected to take up to two weeks, with restrictions in place between 09.30 BST and 15:30 BST on weekdays.
Councillor Paul West, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We have tried to keep disruption to a minimum and keep the bridge open as much as we could until these improvements are completed.”
Work on the structure was previously suspended due to long traffic delays in the area caused by repairs to the Ouse Bridge.
