Trouble erupted in Birmingham on 5 August

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after trouble flared in Birmingham earlier this month in the wake of unrest across England.

He has been held on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with crowds gathering in Bordesley Green on 5 August.

West Midlands Police said the arrest was in response to an appeal for information following the disturbances and it was working to identify other suspects.

People gathered in Bordesley Green following unfounded rumours on social media of a potential far-right protest which did not take place, the force has said.
