One thousand musicians are set to perform some of rock band Linkin Park’s greatest hits in support of mental health services.

The 1,000 Lights event is being held at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Sunday.

It will see the musicians play alongside members of bands including Funeral for a Friend, Holding Absence, The Blackout and Caskets.

It has been organised by the Uprawr Mental Health Foundation charity to help raise money for free counselling and other mental health services for the rock and alternative music community.

Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington was found dead in July 2017 and was later found to have taken his own life.

The 1,000 Lights event, which will take place on Sunday, is named after the band's One More Light tour, which marked the frontman’s final performance.

Linkin Park, known for hits like In the End and Faint, were formed in 1996 and came to prominence in the early 2000s.

They went on to sell more than 70 million albums and won two Grammy Awards.
