Passengers warned of weekend train disruption

Rail replacement services will be in operation between Birmingham and Coventry

Rail passengers travelling over the weekend are being warned of changes to journeys while track renewal work takes place.
The line between Birmingham New Street and Coventry will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, and people have been urged to plan ahead.
Network Rail said journeys will take longer than usual, with bus replacement services in operation, while teams replace track and carry out essential maintenance.
The pre-planned work will provide more reliable journeys between Birmingham and Coventry, bosses said.
The railway line is used by tens of thousands of passengers and many freight trains every week.
"We know there is never a good time to close the railway, but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum while continuing to provide a safe and reliable service for passengers and freight," said Martin Colmey, operations director at Network Rail.
"If you're planning to travel, please plan ahead, allowing extra time for your journey, and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice."
Passengers should check with the National Rail website or their train operator for the latest travel advice.
