Motorists are facing seven miles of tailbacks on the M25 following a crash, according to National Highways.
The agency said earlier that lane four of the motorway clockwise between junction nine (Leatherhead) and junction 10 (Wisley) was closed due to the collision.
All lanes are now open and the crash had been cleared, but motorists were still experiencing delays of 35 minutes.
National Highways said there was seven miles of congestion stretching almost back to junction 8 (Reigate).
It thanked motorists for their patience.
