A motorcyclist has been killed in a fatal road crash.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called to the B3081 Old Hill, by Wincanton Race Course in Somerset, shortly before 06:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene of the single-vehicle collision. His next of kin have since been informed.

Officers have appealed for anyone in the area at the time, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in contact.

The road was closed while emergency services carried out enquiries but has since been reopened.

The victim's family was being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer, police added.
