A 17-year-old boy is being treated in hospital following a "violent incident" in Harrogate, police have said.
The teenager was found with "lacerations" after police were called by ambulance crews to the scene at the Nidd Viaduct in Bilton at about 16:45 BST on Wednesday.
His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, according to North Yorkshire Police.
Officers said a cordon would remain in place while forensic investigatios were carried out and anyone who had seen what happened was asked to get in touch.
Det Ch Insp Carol Kirk said: "There is no room for this level of violence in North Yorkshire and a full investigation is now under way.
"I would urge anyone who has any information to contact us immediately.
"The victim is receiving treatment in hospital but thankfully hasn't suffered any serious injuries.
"Harrogate is a close community and understandably an incident like this will bring great concern to the public."
Patrols would be increased in the area and anyone with concerns should speak to an officer, Det Ch Insp Kirk added.
