Woman, 70, arrested on suspicion of murder

A 70-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in Brighton.

Police said they were called to a property in Lavender Street shortly after 19:30 BST on Monday and a man, also aged 70 and from Brighton, was declared dead at the scene.

The woman remains in custody at this time.

Det Ch Insp Alex Campbell said this was believed to be an isolated incident involving two people known to each other.

Residents have been told to expect a continued and visible police presence in the area while the investigation is ongoing.
