Dog walkers are being urged to keep their pets on a lead after a goose was attacked at a beauty spot in Lancashire.
It happened at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham St Annes over the weekend, Fylde Council said.
The authority said the goose was protecting its goslings when it was attacked.
It was receiving treatment but its chances of survival were said to be low.
'Protective'
A council spokesman said: "We're saddened to share that a goose was attacked over the weekend at Fairhaven Lake.
"We kindly remind all visitors to keep their dogs on leads while enjoying the lake.
"Geese are very protective of their babies, please be careful."
