A man has died in a crash on Snake Pass, police have said.

Officers were called to reports that a car had left the A57 Snake Road in Bamford, Derbyshire, and gone on to an embankment at about 16:00 GMT on Sunday.

Emergency services attended the scene, where the driver, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Derbyshire Police said no other vehicles were involved.

The road, which links Sheffield and Manchester, was closed between Snake Pass Inn and Hagg Farm while emergency services attended the scene, but was later reopened.
