Large bags of cannabis and cash were found on the passenger seat of a car that was stopped by police after jumping a red light in Nottingham.

Officers stopped the car in Brightmoor Street, in Hockley, at about 19:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Nottinghamshire Police said the car's interior smelt strongly of cannabis and officers found several large bags containing the Class B drug.

Two men were arrested at the scene, the force added.

Police said the driver, a 27-year-old man, failed a roadside test for controlled drugs and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, failing to comply with a red light signal and drug-driving.

The passenger, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.
