Detectives have launched an investigation after a series of burglaries in East Cornwall.

Police said two homes in St Cleer were targeted on Monday 20 October, with jewellery and cash being stolen from the properties on Well Lane and Trecarne View.

Det Insp Claire Nicholls said police believe both incidents were part of a series of burglaries across the Liskeard area and nearby villages.

She added: "The incidents have increased in the past few weeks with thieves targeting rural and secluded properties often in the daytime."

Police said burglaries had been reported in Pelynt, Looe, Widegates, Menheniot and Polbathic and many of the incidents resulted in jewellery and cash being taken.

Det Insp Nicholls urged anyone with doorbell footage or information to contact police and reminded locals to check that their homes were secure.

The force has also appealed for dashcam footage from drivers on Well Lane between St Cleer and Tramar from 20 October.
