Arrests after police chase ends in crash

A man was taken to hospital and three people arrested after a car crashed into other vehicles following a police pursuit.

Leicestershire Police said officers identified a blue Volkswagen Golf, believed to have cloned plates and linked to a burglary in Northamptonshire, just after 20:15 GMT on Wednesday.

The driver failed to stop when requested, leading to a chase which ended in Rugby Road, Lutterworth, police said.

A 40-year-old man - the driver of another vehicle involved in the collision - was taken to hospital and officers arrested three men aged 18, 31 and 40.

The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, the 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and theft and a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said the men remained in custody and an investigation by Northamptonshire Police was continuing.

The injured man is receiving treatment in hospital, the spokesperson added.
