Pedestrian struck by car dies at scene of crash

A man in his 40s has died after he was hit by a car near Chatham in Kent.

The crash happened in Walderslade Woods, prior to the junction with Wildfell Close, at about 20:00 GMT on Monday.

Kent Police said a silver Kia Sportage was travelling east towards Boxley when it struck the pedestrian, who was reported to be in the road.

The man died at the scene and his next of kin has been informed, the force said.

Kent Police said an investigation into the crash, which South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended, has begun.

It has appealed for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward.
