A bereavement services team has raised more than £11,000 to support critical care patients and their families at a hospital.

The team at Nene Valley Crematorium in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, raised £11,600 for Kettering General Hospital's intensive care unit.

The money was raised through a national metal recycling scheme, operated by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management.

Nick Hayton, from the Northamptonshire Health Charity, said the "significant contribution" would help the hospital "enhance the care and treatment of patients".

The donation follows the crematorium's £14,000 contribution last year to Thomas's Fund - another local charity.
