A man accused of 12 rapes over the past 14 years has been charged with three further offences.

Duncan Edwards, of Swan Grove in Chappel, near Colchester, is now due to face 29 total offences in court, including some that are drug and sex-related.

Essex Police said the latest charges against the 62-year-old were rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He is due to appear before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Friday, the force says.

Mr Edwards is also known as Duncan Diggle and previously lived in the Farnworth area of Bolton, Greater Manchester.

He has not yet entered a plea to any of the charges.

Det Insp Lydia George said detectives were "working at substantial pace" in their investigation.
