Islanders have been invited to raise funds for cancer charities by entering a football competition.

Bowel Cancer Guernsey and Business Beats Cancer will be the beneficiaries of the seven-a-side Victoria Park Charity Football Tournament, also known as Kick for a Cause, at Victoria Park on 21 September.

Neale Jehan, of Business Beats Cancer, said both charities were dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the same cause so "if we can do that by uniting islanders for some healthy competition, it's a win-win".

Chair of Bowel Cancer Guernsey Anne Brouard said: "Being active to stay healthy is one of our key charity messages, so it's a perfect fit."

She added the day would also feature family entertainment, including games and activities.

Teams wishing to sign up should visit the Victoria Park website, she added.
